?Nectriella on Typha 2
Hans-Otto Baral, 16-07-2008 17:45
Hans-Otto BaralHere the second species, growing a few cm from the first. This appears to be partly superficial but the images show that it also develops beneath the epidermis. The perithecia are larger (still small), and have mosty a distinct and hairy neck.

Perith. 220-280 µm diam. Sp. *17-19.5 x 6-7.3 µm, finely punctate, KOH 15-17.5 x 5-6 µm.

The hairs are thick-walled and sparingly septate.

Here I did not find a good genus. The hairs with their thick wall are rather straight and prominent, so one might search in Trichonectria or Lasionectra, but the subepidermal growth points again to Nectriella?

Spores are obliquely biseriate, as you can see here. Perithecia do not change in KOH.

Yes, I also compared N. paludosa. But does this species have such thick-walled hairs?
