Hi All, I've found an interesting Discomycete on a large fallen branch of Quercus. Apothecia bright yellow 1-2mm. Plane, becoming convex. Stipe paler 1-2x0.5mm. Fasciculate on fissures in the bark, probably associated with the Diatrypaceous fungi. Flesh very tough, composed of a Textura intricata which suggests Bisporella (?) but I can't equate it with any British species. Paraphyses with yellow contents. Ascus pore very faintly amyloid.
Ascospores: 6x3.2, 6.2x3, 7x3.3, 7x3, 6.3x3.2, 6x3.2, 5.2x3.1, 7.2x3, 6.5x3.2, 8x3, 7.2x3.3
6-7x3-3.3
Best wishes,
Charles.

Re : Bisporella?
This is the species with the folder "alni-viridis-like, IKI bb (lowlands)" in "Calycina yellow".
In contrast to this one, the subalpine species on Alnus viridis has inamyloid asci.
I would be glad to receive the collection data. To my knowledge there is no matching description.
From ERD 8869 from Galicia on Quercus robur a sequence exists but none from Alnus vididis.

Hi Zotto,
Many thnks for your comments. I had a hunch it might be interesting! I'll let you have the collection details but I'll need to return to the site to get a precise grid ref.
Best wishes,
Charles.

Re : Bisporella?
Hi Zotto,
The location was Anglesey, North Wales (VC 52, SH52517963). On a fallen branch of Quercus, probably Q. robur in mixed woodland.
