Pyrenopeziza on Cirsium
Juuso Äikäs, 07-08-2023 14:30
I found these gray Pyrenopezizas growing on a decaying stem of Cirsium sp. (or something similar).

Asci 8-spored, with croziers, IKI+(bb). Paraphyses rather wide, with low-refractive guttules. Spores 8.9 - 9.8 × 1.8 - 2.2 µm.

Ideas about the species?

I use to identifiy such "characterless" collections as P. atrata.

Re : Pyrenopeziza on Cirsium
Ok, thanks. I could name this as that. And yes, it is pretty anonymous-looking, just the guttules in the paraphyses stood out for me.

Re : Pyrenopeziza on Cirsium
I suppose these guttules are not very consistent, even elongate faintly refractive VBs are possible.
