Tiny black pyrenos on Vaccinium microcarpum
Juuso Äikäs, 12-06-2023 06:09
These tiny, loosely attached black balls were growing on dead leaves of Vaccinium microcarpum among Sphagnum in a bog.

Asci 8-spored, with croziers, IKI negative. The apos had a few hairs, length to ca. 220 µm. There were only a few free spores to be found, and they measured 12.3 - 14.7 × 3 - 3.6 µm. At least some had a septum. The ostiole of the perithecia seems to be papillate.

Seems fairly distinctive, but no idea about the species or genus...
