Brown Lachnaceae on Chamaenerion
Juuso Äikäs, 04-10-2022 18:38
These little brown, hairy apos were growing on a dead cane of C. angustifolium.

Asci with croziers, IKI+ blue. Paraphyses narrowly cylindrical, some slighty tapering towards the tip. Hairs with hyaline, uninflated tips; some with large crystals. Spores fusoid, with a rather high oil content, measuring 9 - 14 × 2.1 - 2.6 µm.

Lasiobelonium is my best guess for the genus, and that's the furthest I can guess...

Yes this reminds of Lasiobelonium also me. Would be good to make a section to see the globose excipular cells and the hairs at the base. I assume they are also straight.

I find nothing in my files that fits.

Re : Brown Lachnaceae on Chamaenerion
It's quite difficult to see those, but here's a few pic attempts. The first two are possibly bases of hairs and the rest of the excipulum.

Hmm, it is no section and the cells look a bit elongated but principally subglobose.

Did you see any flexuous hairs as in Lasiob. variegatum?

Re : Brown Lachnaceae on Chamaenerion
I've tried many times, but I'm not able to make a proper section. The apos are almost all immature and mostly closed, so it's quite a challenge.

But here's three more pics. I didn't see flexuous hairs -- they all seem to be fairly straight.

I might try to find more material from the place if this is something potentially interesting.

These pics are quite good, thanks. I will put your photos in my folders, hoping some time to get an idea. I have no time to screen the literature.
