minute anamorph on Equisetum limosum
Lothar Krieglsteiner, 24-08-2022 07:24
Lothar Krieglsteiner.. found yesterday in the Eifel National Park, Germany. The conidiomata were dark brown to black under normal lens, and with a reddish hue under the big magnification of the bino.
The strongly ornamented conidia keep a hyaline round basal cell and are produced from reddish cells. To me the appearance is quite striking, and so I hope somebody can provide me with a hint.
Yours, Lothar

Re : minute anamorph on Equisetum limosum
Hi Lothar

I once collected on Equisetum hyemale Epicoccum purpurascens, not sure which literature I used. See my folder "0 Hyphomycetes-Coelo...", Epicoccum.

A similar fungus I studied on plaster of a building ("Probe 1").

Hallo Lothar,

yes this ist Epicoccum nigrum agg. (Syn: Epicoccum purpurascens).
See Christophs answer:
https://www.pilzforum.eu/board/thread/40942-epicoccum-alternaria-und-pyknidien-auf-bougainvillea-glabra/?postID=406499#post406499
I found E. nigrum agg. often on dead herbaceous plants.

best regards,
Thorben

Re : minute anamorph on Equisetum limosum
thanks, Thorben, for your confirmation. Good possible that the fungus is common - I only took it with me because there was nearly nothing else to find ...
Yours, Lothar
