Lachnum on Alnus
Stefan Jakobsson, 24-06-2022 01:57
Every week I find Lachnum species not matching anything for which I can find a name. Here one more on a stick of Alnus(?).

The apos are up to 1.5 mm wide and the stipe equally long, disk light ochre, drying to deeper ochre without reddening.

The hairs are mostly capitate, not with typical oxalate crystals but often partly covered with something more amorphous, often agglutinated by the apex, 67-78.4 × 6.8-8.4 µm, no VBs observed.

Asci with croziers, 50-60 × 4.0-5.0 µm, IKI+. The spores are 9.2-11.4 × 1.8- 2.2 µm. The paraphyses protrude 15-25 µm, width 4.3-5.6 µm, with a few VBs disappearing very easily.

Does this one ring any bells, anyone? I don't think it is L. fasciculare.

Re : Lachnum on Alnus
Good docu and observations! I think this is L. subvirgineum (nom. prov.). Earlier probably confused with L. virgineum. I also think that VBs are absent.

Yes, of course! Compared to my previous collections this one has slightly shorter hairs and guttules in the paraphyses (quite strongly refractive). Thank you!
