Another Thelebolus
Maria Plekkenpol, 11-06-2022 10:40
Maria PlekkenpolHello,
On wild horse dung I saw very small asco's again. This time dark brownish with a darker edge. Smaller than 0,3 mm, IKI-. More than 15 asci, I find it hard to determine how many spores but my guess would be more than 64.
Asci 51-78 x 21-30. Spores hyaline, broad ellipsoid, no DB. 5,8-7,3 x 3,3-3,9.
Following Doveri I come to Thelebolus dubius var. lagopi, only thing is that my asci are smaller in length.
Please let me know your opinions!
Thanks, Maria

Re : Another Thelebolus
Hello Maria,

I think, that the asci of your found are not 128-spored but 64-spored.

So it should be Thelebolus crustaceus.

The asci of your species are 51-78 x 20-30 and the spores 5,8-7,3 x 3,3-3,9 µm.

Doveri gives the following dimensions: 50-70 x 20-30 and 5,5-7 x 3,5-4,5 µm.

This is nearely the same!

Best regards, Norbert

Hello Norbert,
Thank you very much for your reply!
I looked the wrong way because I was mistaken in the amount of spores: T. crustaceus it is!
Again: thanks!

Best regards, Maria
