Cyathicula on Filipendula
Juuso Äikäs, 10-06-2022 17:21
These Cyathiculas were growing on the same stem as the Pyrenopezizas I posted here yesterday.

I was assuming this is the normal C. cyathoidea, but this is quite clearly lacking croziers. The spores are also maybe a bit on the small side (5.9 - 9.4 × 1.6 - 2.1 µm).

Is there a version of that species without croziers, or is this something else?

Re : Cyathicula on Filipendula
I fear nobody can tell. Cyathicula cyathoidea is a vast aggregate and little explored by DNA in combination with exact morphology. Not sure if there exists an epitype. In Pelaez et al. (2011) we published a phylogeny about Cyathicula, with at least 5 different groups of cyathodea-like samples (includin cacaliae and pallida). Some were withou croziers, the majority with.

Re : Cyathicula on Filipendula
Ok, I see, thanks. Maybe I'll just leave it cf. cyathoidea.
