Subsporangial swelling 442x329 um.

Sporangiophore: 96.4 um in diameter, length 2,538 mm. With an orange ring at the end near the Subsporangial swelling. For P. crystallinus this ring is yellow.

Trophocyst: 245x170 um

Columella: 127x133 um

Spores: 11.6-14.1x6.6-7.7 um

Photos of the fructification were taken in water without the use of a cover class.

Hi Joop,

I would also identify this as P. kleinii. It is the only Pilobolus species that has ellipsoid spores which are yellow and with spore length >10 µm.

I would also agree with this even though thy are usually a darker yellow. For future reference try here www.myfg.org.uk/pilobolus_update2.pdf

Thanks for the update for me a good identifier is the orange ring just below the subsporangial swelling.
