I am having trouble with the ID of this erumpant on Eucalyptus bark and ask for your assistance.
Asci: 90 x 13um, Lugol's +ve
Spores: small lipids drops in H20, 16/17 septa seen in Lugol's, 56.6-68.7 x 3.1-4.1um
I hope there is enough in the images to help you.
Best regards
Peter

Re : Stictis?Propolis? on Eucalyptus bark
I suggest a Karstenia around K. idaei. The blue apical ring might rule out idaei, not sure.
A section of the marginal lobes (for the periphysoids) might be helpful.

Re : Stictis?Propolis? on Eucalyptus bark
Yes, these are the periphysoids. They line the lobes down to the base of the hymenium, unlike in Cryptodiscus where they only occur above the hymenium.
The matter with the amyloid ring is worth following, I am nur sure how valuable it is in terms of species delimitation. If you pretreat with KOH, then the entire hymenium (lateral wall of asci) must react blue.

Re :Karstenia sp. on Eucalyptus bark
Fantastic, many thanks for your help getting ID to genus; I will file it as Karstenia cf idaei.
I have learnt some new things in this process, which is always much appreciated.
Seasons greetings to all.
Pete
