Coelomycetous on Populus nigra leaves
Enrique Rubio, 26-11-2021 13:43
Enrique RubioDo you have any idea about this coelomycetous fungi growing on Populus nigra leaves?
I don't know the conidiogenesis but the hyaline and osteiform conidia seem very peculiar.
Many thanks in advance

Re : Coelomycetous on Populus nigra leaves
The conidia look like those of Leptodothiorella, microconidial/spermatial anamorphs of Guignardia and Phyllosticta. There is a species Phyllosticta populina that is occasionally recorded, but I don't know it and I'd be hesitant to identify without seeing macroconidia. Hope this gives you a direction to search in.

Best wishes

Paul

Hi Enrique,

this reminds on spermatia of Phyllosticta.

Re : Coelomycetous on Populus nigra leaves
I have been looking at images of spermatia from other Phyllosticta and I see that they are very similar.
Many thanks Paul and Martin.
