Anthracobia sp?
Tyler Bailey, 06-08-2021 22:34
I found this Found on burned ground running through a well packed trail in a city park in Western NY US. It was interdispersed with a Pulvinula sp. but brighter orange.

Spores: (15.3) 16-17.9 (17.9) x (7.1) 7.4-8.3 (8.7) N=33 Qe=2.2
Asci: 136.6-174um x 10-13um

Setae seemed to be only on the bottom of the cups an were very hard to scoop up had broke away and were mostly in the substrate., The hairs were either were aseptate or maybe one septate and very long (up to .5mm) and light brown or almost hyaline.

Spores, Paraphyses and Asci are all inamyloid in IKI

Paraphyses fork 1/4 to 1/3 of he way up

the asci seem to short an the setae not right for A. melaloma

I apologize in advance for the bad microscopy.

Re : Anthrocobia sp?
We are working on this at the moment.  Can you send the specimen to Cornell?

Thanks,
Andy

Re : Anthrocobia sp?
Absolutely, they have almost shrunk back into the substrate now, hopefully they hold up well. There are a couple of Pulvulina mixed in woth them. Is there a specific adress and good tips to pack so they stay together?
