Trichopezizella with Helicogonium endoparasite?
Edvin Johannesen,

Hi!
I suspect I have a Trichopezizella with a hymenial parasite very similar to what was discussed here:
This one grows on dead Reynoutria japonica stems in Western Norway.
I think the asci (IKI-) have croziers and belong to the parasite (if I'm right in that there is one). The ascospores pinch off conidia at the terminal end. There are loads of conidia, but relatively few primary ascospores. Paraphyses lanceolate. Hairs with yellowish-orange chrystals at the tips. Is it possible to say if this is T. rubroguttata or T. nidulus? Is the parasite (again IF) a Helicogonium?
Opinions greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

Yes it is clearly Helicogonium! You can try my key but it will be difficult. I cnanot remember such a host, but not sure.

Re : Trichopezizella with Helicogonium endoparasite?
Thanks, Zotto. I don't have your key - is it the one in Nova Hedwigia 69: 1-71? When you say you don't remember the host, are you referring to Trichopezizella as host for the Helicogonium or Reynoutria as host for the Trichopezizella? Finally, do you think this is T. rubroguttata or T. nidulus (what are the differences)?

Re : Trichopezizella with Helicogonium endoparasite?
I meant the host Trichopezizella.
It is the nova hedwigia paper, yes.
All what is not on Polygonatum is T. rubroguttata, but there exist populations with H+ and H-, maybe two different species.

Re : Trichopezizella with Helicogonium endoparasite?
Thanks a lot! (Sorry, but what do you mean by H+/H-?)

H+ = with croziers (Haken)
