Re : Cup on birch leaf
Well documented, but you don't have a pic of the spores under oil, and the paraphyses, in water?
It looks to me sclerotiniaceous, but it has no stipe! - No idea

Re : Cup on birch leaf
What about the first picture in the second batch, isn't it possible to see crozier(s) there?

Re : Cup on birch leaf
Hello Guy, Zotto and Marek,
I am not sure at all - but what if the leaf would be not Betula but Alnus, and the stalks are present but short. Then it could perhaps be Ciboria conformata. Or maybe C.c. could also rarely grow on Betula?
If I make a big mistake amd miss something relevant you may fforgive me ...
Best, Lothar

Re : Cup on birch leaf
Hi Lothar, I think Alnus is a possibility, yes. But the croziers are in fact very clear, and C. conformata hasn't. The section and also the second photo clearly show that there is no stipe.

Re : Cup on birch leaf
Hello,
could it be a Moellerodiscus? I don't know where exactly is the border between Ciboria and Moellerodiscus.

Re : Cup on birch leaf
I can't exclude that but I only know stipitate members of that genus.
The weak IKI reaction of the ascus tip would plead for that.
