Bonjour tous

A collection of a few small twigs/narrow branches is throwing up several such puzzles, It is extra annoying when the material is in good condition and seems to be presenting good identification characters!

So here a mostly superficial "pyrenomycete" which occurs both clustered and scattered on a damp fallen Salix cinerea twig, The ascomata measure up to 450µm are black with a sort of granular surface. Asci are 8-spored and have distinctive rather long, tapering "stalks" filled with protoplasm, no paraphyses or similar were present. Spores as in the images - hyaline, 1-septate, filled with globular granules, 15.5-19.1 x 6.5-7.1µm.

Before looking under the microscope I had considered genera such as Nitschkia, but thes spores alone seem to rule that out. So I am confused, as ever any suggestions would be welcome.

Chris

Re : Salix pyreno puzzle
Thanks a lot, Chris.
I'm sorry, I can't help you but I can't think of anything acceptable. My first impression was Plagiostoma, but the asci are certainly not those of a Diaporthales.
