Bonjour à nouveau, Voici une trouvaille d'hier.

Here is an unidentified species producing small (200u in width) superficial black perithecia on bark of dead Acer saccharum. The spore are hyaline and with one constricted central septum, and several indistinct septa making them dictyopsores.

Thanks for the help!
Best regards

Re : interesting little blackish perithecia
That's interesting, I found something very similar a while ago in Cornwall. I assigned it provisionally to Rhamphoria but don't have much confidence that it belongs there, and I think I recall sending the images to Martina Réblová who was similarly confused. So, not much help, but you are not alone at least...
You can see a description and images here - http://fungi.myspecies.info/all-fungi/rhamphoria-sp-p1035 - be warned that there is a small glitch in the site at present which means the species pages don't display properly.
If anyone else has good ideas about where these fungi fit, I will be pleased to learn from them
Best wishes
Paul

Re : interesting little blackish perithecia
Thanks!
glad to know I am not the only puzzled by this one! your pictures are indeed very similar, and must certainly be close relative if not the same species.
at any rate, I am trying to get it to go grow in culture, but I usually do culture of hyphomycetes, and I do not have much experience in isolating perithecial fungi... Hopefully it will work!
