Ciboria-like?
Marc Detollenaere, 05-02-2021 09:25
Marc DetollenaereIn the coastal dunes of Belgium on a small branch of Hippophae I found a whitish cup-shaped fruiting body of about 5mm. The stalk was black at the base.
Ascus 8-spored, uniseriate, 136x9µ, apical apparatus J+, spores amygdaliform 10x 5.1-5.4µ some with guttules.Excipulum text. angularis.
Who could help me with this one?

Re : Ciboria-like?
This looks interesting but do you also have photos in water? I would like to see the living paraphyses. A section of the excipulum would also be helpful, it does not perfectly look like textura globulosa.

Good evening Zotto,
Here are some pictures in water of the paraphyses and some of the excipulum.
In what direction are you thinking ?

Re : Ciboria-like?
So the living paraphyses do not contain refractive vacuoles. The substrate is not really clear to me. Could it be that there were catkins of a Salicaceae or Betulaceae? The characters would fit Ciboria caucus or amentacea.

Re : Ciboria-like?
Hello Zotto,
I  found the fungus under Hippophae and at first sight it was fixed on an old blackened branch of it.( see picture). But 10 meters further there were some Alnus  glutinosa . So probably it grows on an old catkin and it is  Ciboria amentacea as you suggested.
Many thanks

Marc

Re : Ciboria-like?
Yes, this is the most probable explanation. :-)
