Hello, first of all I wish everyone a healthy and peaceful 2021!Someone on the FB group of Dutch mycology found these Rutstroemia (Lenneke Roozen). She lives on one of our islands and the substrate is Ammophila arenaria.
Spores av 14-17 x 5-7, filled with little droplets, some younger spores (?) with two droplets. Paraphyses filled, septated and with hardly broadened apex.
Asci 140-150 x 9,5-12.5, J+. Clear croziers?? (I read former topics, so I am not sure???)
Amyloid (see photo of "blue" spore)?
But reading the former topics (and finding hardly any further information about R. maritima) I don't know if it is possible to be sure ..... ???

Clear croziers! Despite the substrates I am reluctant with R. maritima. It will be difficult to find a morphological character to separate this from R. calopus. But you are right, my maritima folder contains both IKI- and IKI+. I fear this matter is far from being solved.

Thank you for your fast reply! I already feared this hahaha. But: maybe there will be some discovery in the future, whatever the outcome will be.
One last question: R. maritima can not be said, but is it correct to say that it's either R. maritima or R. calopus? Or are there even more candidates?

There can be more. This is a difficult complex, with various names, some of them only known from DNA isolates because these species are parasites of grasses. The old names need to be epitypified which needs a thorough study.
I must correct myself, Dennis (1964: 52) reported for authentic material of R. maritima an amyloid ascus apex, though with a moderate apical thickening.
The clade Clarireedia is the home of these parasites, so some use that name instead of Rutstroemia.

Better to know that sometimes things are not sure yet, then naming something without a solid base. That's how I see it anyway.
