A little black asco on wood?
Mirek Gryc, 22-12-2020 18:36
Hi
I took the samples in a hurry because it got windy and cold, I didn't even take pictures in the field, so I didn't even pay attention to the substrate.
Surely the fruiting bodies grew on some barkless, hardwood.
I collected several collections, including the macroscopically very similar Durella commutata, but these ascomata were even smaller.
No idea.
greetings
Mirek

Re : A little black asco on wood?
Hello Mirek

this is Symbiotaphrina (earlier Tromeropsis) microtheca. See the article in your mailbox.

Please check from the cross-cut wood if this is coniferous or deciduous. The species is usually on conifers but occurred also on Fagus.

Re : A little black asco on wood?
Hi Zotto.
Oh yes Zotto, you are right!
Now I remember. Due to the fact that it was very dark in the forest, I decided to go to its edge where there were only deciduous trees. However, I dressed too poorly and I got cold quickly due to the strong wind, so I quickly decided to go home through the forest, but I stopped at a group of fallen spruces. I took a sample of Valsa from its branch, but I noticed that these mushrooms were growing at the fracture site. Without thinking, I threw the piece of wood into the box and quickly went home. That day I collected quite a lot of samples, but without photos and notes, at home I had a problem with reminding where the collection came from.
Thank you for the article!
I cordially greet you and wish you a Merry Christmas!
Mirek

A good example of overcollecting ;-)

If you look in my folders you must go to Xylononmycetes.
