Hyaloscypha vitreola?
Juuso Äikäs, 17-11-2020 19:11
I found these a few days ago, growing on a thin branch of a deciduous tree (probably Salix caprea, though Betula might also be possible). As a bonus, I also found a single apo of Orbilia vinosa (new species for me).

I've read that H. vitreola prefers to grow on soft, well-rotted wood. This branch however was pretty firm. Could this still fit?

Spore measurements:

(9.9) 9.92 - 14.8 (15.4) × (2.7) 2.9 - 3.3 (3.6) µm
Q = (3) 3.1 - 4.7 (5.8) ; N = 10
Me = 12.7 × 3.1 µm ; Qe = 4.1

Asci: 53.5 - 63.9 × 9.2 - 10.5 µm

Re : Hyaloscypha vitreola?
Now I'm thinking maybe H. albohyalina might be also possible?

I do not see the hairs.

Re : Hyaloscypha vitreola?
Here are a couple more pics (3% KOH & CR/NH4OH). I couldn't make a preparation in which they could be seen well.

Re : Hyaloscypha vitreola?
o.k., vitreola is possible, but this is difficult! Living paraphyses could help, I remember albohyalina has conspicuous SCB-drops in them.

Re : Hyaloscypha vitreola?
Thanks. Yeah, the paraphyses are in KOH in the pic. I was again reminded how frustrating Hyaloscyphas can be!
