Teleomorph of Botrytis cinerea?
Lieve Deceuninck, 18-05-2026 10:13
Lieve DeceuninckDear forum members,
I identified this as the teleomorphic form of Botritys cinerea (syn. Botryotinia fuckeliana), but I find little information about this form.
Can anyone confirm this?

Between mosses and litter of Quercus robur, Picea abies; seemed attached to a leaf fragment of Quercus robur. no macroconidial anamorphic state seen (Anamorph of Botrytis cinerea was present in the area)
Apothecia: 0.8-2 mm diam.
Stipe 12-16 mm long
Sclerotium lenticular, with rind of subglobose-angular cells
Sclerotial hyphae hyaline
Excipulum with globose cells, elongated at the edge
Asci 8-sp, in 1 to 2 rows; 80-100 x5-8 µm, with croziers
Spores: (8.4) 8.6 - 10 (11.1) × (4) 4.3 - 4.8 (5) µm;Q = (1.9) 1.91 - 2.2 (2.3) ; N=24; Me = 9.3 × 4.5 µm ; Qe = 2.1
Paraphyses filiform with elongated vacuoles
I ruled out
Sclerotinia: no matching species found with 1-nucleated spores
Moellerodiscus: has narrower spores
Ciborinia pseudobifrons: is 2-nucleated (I only saw 1-nucleated spores)
Thanks in advance, Lieve

Re : Teleomorph of Botrytis cinerea?
What kind of vacuoles did you see in the paraphyses? Botrytis generally has refractive ones (VBs).

Much of your docu reminds me strongly of Scleromitrula capillipes. See my aper in Ascomycete.org. Was there any Alnus around?
