Eutypa flavovirens (Pers.) Tul. & C. Tul. (1863)
Perz Piotr, 22-02-2006 00:02
Hi everybody :)

I tink this is correct description: Eutypa flavovirens (Pers.) Tul. & C. Tul. (1863)
(link: http://wwkk.mikologia.pl/spec/20050821_001A_PERZ/20050821_001A_PERZ.php )
but by B&K is: "paraphyses not observed". Maby this is another Eutypa ?

Another question..... I'am observerd microkonidia among asci and paraphyses - I'am right ??

Best,
Pimpek

Hello Pimpek,
you should consult Rappaz' monograph of Diatrypaceae (Mycologia Helvetica 1987, Vol 2, N°3) for a better description of your fungus. It is currently accepted as Diatrype flavovirens (pers.: Fr.) Fr. owing to the well developed entostroma.
Presence or absence of paraphyses is mostly correlated with the state of development and therefore not a diagnostic character.
As to your microconidia, they likely reprsent a contaminant. Conidia of Diatrypaceae are filiform-falcate and are produced in distinct conidiomata.
More soon,
Jacques

Une question subsidiaire :
"A t-on trouvé en Europe une Diatrype avec un entostroma abondant et jaune moutarde autre que flavovirens ?

Hi Robert,

Do you means, that D.flavovirens is the only one with this pigment? This means - is easyely to describe!

Pimpek

Re:Eutypa flavovirens (Pers.) Tul. & C. Tul. (1863)
Hi Jacques !

I asked about Eutybe, cause by IndexFungorum i found "Diatrype flavovirens (Pers.) Fr., - Current name: Eutypa flavovirens (Pers.) Tul. & C. Tul. 1863"
Now i will searching for Mycologia Helvetica 1987, Vol 2, N°3, thanx. I have only a little informations about Diatrybe (about Pyrenomycetes) ant that, what you are writing about paraphyses is very intresting for me.
When this are nor mikrokonidia - you means they are hyphae of other fungi? And growind into my D.flavovirens? :) Ha, ha - I will never guess :)

Best,
Pimpek

Dear Pimpek,
the generic placement within the Diatrypaceae remains sometimes puzzling since the generic limits are not always clear cut. Never mind! and keep collecting Diatrypaceae until you get acquainted with them.
Try to send a photo of your microconidia wih their dimensions, in case I could have an idea. Otherwise send me a part of the specimen.
Best wishes,
Jacques
