Albotricha ?
Nicolas VAN VOOREN, 20-06-2019 08:31
Nicolas VAN VOORENHello.
Here is a tiny fungus growing on rotten bark (hardwood).

Asci 42-47 × 6-6.5 µm, pars sporifera 20-21 µm, no crozier, IKI+ (bb)
Paraphyses filiform, without VB
Spores 7-8.5 × 2-2.2 µm, with few droplets at each pole
Ectal excipulum of textura globulosa (at the base) to t. prismatica
Hairs septate, reaching 90 µm in length

Any idea?

Re : Albotricha ?
Bonjour Nicolas,

as-tu essayé dans le groupe des Trichophaea Boud. Je pense plustôt dans le genre Paratrichophaea vu la texture de l'excipulum.

Hi Nicolas

I think you should compare Psilocistella quercina.

Ascomycete.org, 6 (5) : 143-146.

Re : Albotricha ?

Bonjour,

Zotto , is it possible to find such acuminate hairs in P. quercina ?

Hairs would rather  match Dasyscyphella acutipilosa, but spores too short .

Amitiés

Michel

Re : Albotricha ?
You are right Michel, but Dasyscyphella does not have such broad hairs. Arachnopeziza variepilosa perhaps, but I must say I can only guess when not seeing the other elements.

What is the hair width, Nicolas?

Re : Albotricha ?
Sorry for the delay. I rehydrated a specimen in 5% KOH.
Hairs measure 4-5 µm wide at the base. I attach a new picture of hairs and ascospores.

Re : Albotricha ?
They remind me also of Colipila but you say the paraphyses are filiform while Colipila has such lke the hairs.

Re : Albotricha ?
Yes, I confirm: paraphyses are filiform, and apothecia sessile.
