Black carbonized from Sintra_2019
Lepista Zacarias, 08-04-2019 20:40
Dear all,
I found the fungus in the attached photos last weekend in Sintra, Portugal, while looking for lichens in a mediterranean forest. The fungus has a black carbonization and is projected from inside the bark of the tree/shrub. It has asci with 8 spores each, and the spores are simple with the following dimensions:
(29.7) 31.4 - 37.3 (39.2) × (11.4) 11.7 - 14.2 (16.2) µm
Q = (2.2) 2.4 - 2.9 (3.3) ; N = 20
Me = 34.3 × 12.9 µm ; Qe = 2.7
I would appreciate any comment, guess or analysis toward its identification.
Thanks in advance,
zaca

Re : Black carbonized from Sintra_2019
I think you have a terrible Botryosphaeria/Diplodia. And I think the determination is not possible without knowing the anamorph.

Thanks, Enrique, for the quick answer.
I see why you call it "terrible".
