Rhytismatales on Picea
Gernot Friebes, 15-08-2018 10:24
Hi,

found on the bark of an old Picea tree at approx. 1600 m alt., ascospores measure about 65–78 x 3.8–4.5 µm, they are apparently non-septate and without sheath, asci are IKI–. Thanks for your help!

Best wishes,
Gernot

Hallo Gernot

Re : Rhytismatales on Picea
Hallo, Zotto,

Gernot

Hi Gernot,

I am interested in your sample, so if you do not mind send me an email with the data of the collection and the photographs to discuss about it.

Best wishes,

Luis

Re : Rhytismatales on Picea
Indeed, very similar to Elisabeth's sample on Picea bark but spore length not overlapping. Anyway it could be the same species.

Re : Rhytismatales on Picea
I remembered that I found a similar fungus earlier this year, also on bark of Picea abies. The ascospore measurements are very close to Elisabeth's (42.3-54.6 x 3-3.5 µm), and I found one spore that was 1-septate.

Unfortunately this material is likely too sparse for further studies as it only consists of the apothecia shown on the photos.

Best wishes,
Gernot

Re : Rhytismatales on Picea
Seems actually to be a species different from abieticola as there is only 1 septum.
