Pink conidiomata on Equisetum fluviatile!
François Bartholomeeusen, 06-06-2018 14:42
Dear forum members,

On Equisetum fluviatile I found a pink anamorphic. Does anyone have an idea?

Conidia: 52.6-63.7 x 3.8-5.6 µm; up to six times septated;

Any suggestion is welcome!

Hoi Francois,

And I think it is actually Fusarium equiseti, but you never can sure with these things, better to cultivate them.It is a a-sexual stage of a Gibberella (intricans ).

I own the booklet of Booth, C. "The genus Fusarium. "If you want to go deeper into Fusarium (nice things ) : The old boook by Wollenweber and Reinking is still available antiquarian. The book by Booth is not.

Best,

Marco

Dag Marco,

Bedankt voor je hulp!

Your information explains my find near the Fusarium equiseti. I add some pictures to this item of black perithecia that I found. So that's Gibberella intricans!

One quest leads to an other ... what a wonderful world those fungi!

Greetings,

François

Hoi Franzwas,

Nice find, the Gibberella,

In the past it was said that a teleomorp - anamorph connection was there if both morphs grow together. But ofcourse there allways can grow something else .

I do not see Gibberella spores in your pictures.(Only some Fusarium conidia. )

Is there any chance that you have Gibberella spores ?At least in your material ?I do however see a blue peritecial wall in your pictures.

Nice find, however in asexual stage very common.

Best,

Marco

Hi Marco,

I need to make some time available to carry out additional research. Do you have an example of the microscopy of Gibberella intricata?

Re : Gibberella? Pink conidiomata on Equisetum fluviatile!
Hi all,

My patience was rewarded! After 11 days in a humid environment, asci and spores eventually appeared.
spores: one septum; what constricted at the septum, 9.89-14.91 x 3.78-5.03 µm; G: 11.6 x 4.3 µm Q= 2.7
Does someone have an idea? The spores are too small for Gibberella intricans
Best regards,

François

Re : Pink conidiomata on Equisetum fluviatile!
Hello Swat,

These are not Gibberellla spores.?

Because of the smaller lower half of them. But still I see a bleu periderm.

Is I confused?

I do not know the genus G. al too much, youb see.

 Besides that ; do I see uni-tunicate asci ?

Best

Marco
