Cercophora scortea from dung - please help find!
Andrew N. Miller, 09-05-2018 16:57
Andrew N. MillerI am in search of fresh Cercophora scortea from dung in which I can culture.  We have already sequenced the entire genome of this species from USA, where it occurs on wood.  However, I would like to compare a European specimen, where I believe it occurs on dung.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Andy

Hi Andy,
to me C. scortea is a rare species that I collected only twice, both on wood in aquatic environments.
You should have received JF 06300 collected in 2006 on a partly submerged stump of Alnus. The other collection was made in 2009 on a Salix branch having obviously stayed in water for long, in a dried out ditch in an Abies forest.
If I ever come across it again I wll tell you.
Good luck,
Jacques

Merci, Jacques!  Lundqvist only reports it from dung so I was hoping to receive a fresh specimen from this substrate.

Cheers,
Andy
