Small Peziza lookalike
Malcolm Greaves, 20-04-2018 23:13
Malcolm GreavesCan anyone tell me which genus this cup might be. It was found on decaying grass stem in a bog area. They were growing as a group with the largest 8mm across. Spores were 8-14 x 1.5. Asci blued in Lugol.
Thanks
Mal

Hi Malcolm, in my opinion is this Myriosclerotinia curreyana. The species  grows from sclerotia which are formed inside by Juncus-stalks.
Greetings Peter.

Thanks Peter
What I thought was the ridged "grass stem" they were attached to turned out to be the sclerotia and with its bright pink flesh it is a perfect match for Myriosclerotinia curreyana
