Chaetomium spinosum?
Marc Detollenaere, 05-02-2018 22:40
Marc Detollenaere

Hello everybody,

On dung of rabbit I found two Chaetomium with straight septate hairs , densely encrusted, 170-240µ long, pale gray.Terminal hairs not branched or arcuate. The spores measured 7x6µ , they were broadly ovoidal, some of them were limoniform. The rather indistinct germ pore was situated apically. Peridium was of textura angularis with cells of about 10µ.

The key in Doveri, Ascomycete.org,8(1), 2016 brought me to Chaetomium spinosum.

Could someone confirm these findings?

Re : Chaetomium spinosum?
Hello Marc.

Have you been able to observe the shape of the asci? Also an ostiole as well as the reaction of spores in the Melzer?

Michel.

Re : Chaetomium spinosum?

Good evening Michel,

The fruit body was rather ampulliform without long neck, 320x150µ, no dark collar round ostiole. The asci were irregularly biseriate, about 35x8µ, clavate, long-stalked and 8-spored. Spores became slightly amyloid in Melzer.

Marc
