Coniochaeta ligniaria ?
Ethan Crenson, 30-01-2018 17:29
Hello,
In New York City on decorticated hardwood.  I think this is Coniochaeta ligniaria.  They are individual stromata, sometimes growing together in clusters, superficial, none larger than .5mm.  Asci IKI-, 97-124 by 16-17µm. Spores brown/light-brown, rough and thick walled, about (13) 14-17 (18) by 10-13µm.  I believe I did detect at least one germ slit, but was unable to photograph it. Pseudoparaphyses hyaline, branched.  Tiny brown hairs on the outside of the stromata are brown and about 18µm long.  (In addition to the ascospores I saw what I believe are conidia, blunt cylindrical to ellipsoid in form and 6-8µm long, but I'm not sure if they are related to my collection.)  Am i correct that this is Coniochaeta ligniaria?  Thanks in advance.
Ethan
