this one was also found by A. Gallé on wood of Castanea. The brownish excipular cells are very striking. The ascospores measure about 11.8–13.4 x 3–3,6 µm. The paraphyses contain VBs. Photos are by myself and A. Gallé. Thanks for your help!
Best wishes,
Gernot

Re : Discomycete on Castanea
Hello Gernot,
I do not know the species, but especially the spores strongly remind me of Encoelia.
Best regards, Lothar

Hi Gernot
yes, somewhat encoelioid. Do you have a pic of the VBs?

Re : Discomycete on Castanea
Indeed Viktorie, it looks just like those. I cannot remember these two earlier samples, but found them via the host genus in my files under Cenangiaceae, folder "indet. Prunus, Hedera"

Re : Discomycete on Castanea
Thank you! These collections do look similar, although I'm not sure if the ascospore form is exactly the same; they tend to be bent in our material which I don't see in your collections. But who knows how much that can vary!
Best wishes,
Gernot
