I found small fungus three days ago. It grew on old Inonotus nodulosus together with Dialonectria cosmariospora in the deciduous forest (especially Fagus, Quercus and Tilia). Black globose to pear-sahaped perithecia with small ostioles have diameter 0,1 - 0,25 mm and thick wall light brown to brown hairs (max 80 µm long and 4 µm wide). Mature spores are greyish, ellipsoid and have septa forming like reticulum. Their size is 13,9 - 19,7 × 8,5 - 13,6 µm (M = 16,8 × 11,0 µ).
Can you advise me, what it can be?

beautiful. :-) It looks like one of the Capronia species with muriform ascospores. However, I'm afraid I can't provide a definitive species name at the moment since this is a difficult group.

I suppose it is Capronia testudiformis, an undescribed species that was named by Guy Marson after the resemblance with a carapace of a turtle. Guy even gained a sequence, but did not upload it so far, and nothing fits it well enough there. I have images in my folder under this name, also possibly related taxa like C. chlorospora.

thank you for your valuable remarks. I read about C. chlorospora in the article from Réblová and Svr?ek (1997), but some detailes does not fit too much. Your microphotos of "C. testudiformis" better desribed my finding. I will look again at the same place on another visit on this interesting fungus.
