Hi,I founded this species on a piece of (I think ->herbarium sheet) Quercus cf. petraea. I have no idea concerning the genius. It appear to be not lichenised...
If someone could give me a clue, it would be nice!

did you test IKI? What is the medium, is this purplish colour originla or caused by KOH? What is the spore size? The asci appear to be unitunicate?

Thank you for your answer. Poorly I did not test the IKI ; but the cuts are mounted in KOH 10%.
The spores are ~12.5 µm large, and yes, I think that the ascii are unitunicate.

Reminds me a bit of Lahmia kunzei but that hat thick-walled asci and elongate septate spores.
But what I think that you have is the rarely recarded Patinella punctiformis, though this has larger spores. I know it only from the type maerial which was on Picea bark.

I am not at all experienced in these kind of ascomycetes, do you have some bibliographic references that could help me ?
This specimen was on Quercus' bark (probably Q. petraea), in the Massif central, France ~500m a.s.l.
I only had one sample, so it is now passed. I will check if I have similar material on other pieces of bark and try to make new cuts. If I found new ones, I can also send you some material if you are interested in.

Did it grow on a standing trunk of a living tree? And why Pinus sylvestris?
When on Quercus it is probably another species. I fear there is very little known about these fungi. Lichenologists neglect them as do mycologists.
P. punctiformis I have in my database only for Rehm, Saccardo and Velenovsky (1934).
I would prefer you not to send me material, I have very little time. But a restudy with spore measurements and IKI-raction would be great.

 hope you can remember this thread. I am working on Patinella punctiformis at the moment and would be glad to know some details about your sample:
- Was it a standing trunk of Quercus and which height above ground?
- What was the date and where exactly did you collect the sample?
I assume you never found this fungus again?
Why I did not mention Feltgen's P. punctiformis f. quercina I do not know. At least this must be your fungus.
