A kind of Gibellula ?
Thorben Hülsewig, 21-07-2015 20:59

Hi there

Today i found in the forest on the ground a fungus that i can't determine.

I believe that the fungus grow on a cocon, but im don't know if that true.

In the Internet i found the similar genus Gibellula, but I'm not sure if that's the same as my mushroom is  :/

The spores have a size of 4-6 x 2 µm

Can you help me ?

Thanks in advance,

Thorben

Hi Thorben,

this looks like Isaria farinosa (Paecilomyces farinosus) to me.

Regards from Lothar

also to me. Could be sensu stricto (closely related to Cordyceps militaris and in some places given as synony of Cordyceps sobulifera). Gibellulas kill spiders. Your fungus is presumably on a lepidoteran pupa
