Bonjour à nouveau, Voici une trouvaille d'hier.
Orange asco on Rubus leaves
Enrique Rubio,
18-07-2012 19:39
We have collected on previous years leaves of Rubus ulmifolius these strange orange to yellowish ascomata arising of veins and petioles. Apothecia are gregarious, very small, up to 200 microns, and they are barrel shaped, columniform, later substipitate, turbinate and subcupuliform.
No hairs or another piliform structures we have seen in the margin or the excipulum.
Ascospores are filiform and up to 3-septate at maturity. Asci IKI b, croziers unknow. The paraphyses have allways some refractive vacuoles at their apices. Excipulum maybe with textura porrecta.
We don't know what genus agrees with our collection. Can you help us?
Many thanks again
Enrique

Re : Orange asco on Rubus leaves
Hi Enrique
wonderful. Thanks to my stay in Sheffield last year I know this fungus which Jens collected on Rubus leaves. No wonder that it seems to have been overlooked perviously, but I did not so far check much the literature.. At least in my database there is nothing on Rubus/Rosa that has such spores.
This would be a good candidate to publish in a short article like Fungal Planet, but the problem is the genus. We think it is a Vibrissea, but maybe the excipulum is too different, also the VBs in the paraphyses are extraordinary. Pocillum would be another option.
Maybe Jens can provide us with his nice macro?

Re : Orange asco on Rubus leaves
Thank you, Zotto. I I had thought that it could be a Vibrissea, but the excipulum is too different (as you say). Maybe Pocillum is better, at least while remain like so.
We think the excipulum is a bit gelified
Cheers
Enrique
