Haematonectria on Bones
Björn Wergen, 07-09-2011 09:59
Björn WergenHello,

yesterday I have found a Nectriaceae on a cowbone and unfortunately I do not have any literature about Haematonectria or other Nectriaceae growing on bones. I will show you the pics here.

Ascomata about 0,1-0,2 mm in diametre, dark orangered to redbrownish, with a distinct papilla. Ornamentation of the spore rough, sometimes with longitudinal lines (even with lactophenol not easy to see...).

Before you will ask me for a cut thorugh a perithecia, I will ask you how to do this?

thanks and regards,
Kazuya

Hi Kazuya,

I can not tell you anything about Nectriaceae. But for making slices I recommend a very sharp razorblade and a dissecting microscope and it is elementery to leave the fruitbody attached to the substrate to maintain a steady grip.

cheers,
Stip

Many thanks, Stip, for your help.

I think I do not have the equipment to do such things, perhaps later ;)
