Yatsiuk Iryna, 10-01-2011 18:33
Yatsiuk IrynaHello everyone!

I invite your attention to this specimen, which I preliminary identifyed as Gloniopsis smilacis. It was found on the rotting wood of Populus alba. Pleace, tell your ideas about this...

Spores 14,5-17*6-7,5 um (at the widest part), hyaline, septate, with mostly 3-4 horizontal and 1-3 vertical septa.
Asci 100-110*11-14 um

Re:Gloniopsis?
Yes, I think it's smilacis, even if ascospores could be bigger.
It's called Hysterobrevium smilacis today.
I observe that iIt's the most common Hysteriaceae, with H. angustatum.

Re:Gloniopsis?
But you can see on this website :
http://www.eboehm.com/
I remember there is another species, from Asia, Hysterobrevium constrictum. All the descriptions are given. Your asci are cylindrical, aren't they ?
Perhaps you should check other hysterothecias to see if the spores are not longer.

Re:Gloniopsis?
Alain,
Thank you very much for verification!
Asci are cylindrical. I made preparations from several hysterothecia to measure spores. But it seems to me that spores are a bit immature. What about H. constrictum in diagnosis it is said that spores are highly symmetrical. Here spores are asymmetrical ("upper" part is wider than he "lower" ), isn't it?

Yes , your analysis about spores is right. It's H. smilacis
