Eutypella?
Enrique Rubio, 07-01-2007 21:29
Enrique RubioDear friends:
Some idea about that Eutypella on Sambucus nigra branches?
Stromata around 1 mm of diam. Asci up to 80 micr. and spores 8-13 x 2-3 micr.
Thank you for your suggestions.

Re:Eutypella?
Dear Enrique,
I agree it looks like an Eutypella. It might be E. leprosa owing to the ascospore size but the typical white entostroma seems absent on your photo.
To try to identify it, you should record the presence/absence of entostroma (white powdery to waxy tissue betwen perithecia), ostioles diameter and length, perithecia diameter and Melzer reaction of apical ring after 3% KOH pretreatment.
More soon,
Jacques

Thank you, Jacques. I will try to study this characters and will comment on my results to you.
Another question: Do you know the e-mail of M. Caillet (Octospora)?

Sorry I do not know his email address, maybe Nicolas does?
If you can send me a part of the specimen, I would be happy to see it.
Kind regards,

Jacques

Re:Eutypella?
Of course, Jacques. Which is your postal address?
I send a photo of the cut perithecia. I see, as you were saying, a white interperithecial matter
