I found this strange "discomycete" three days ago, and I have no clue what it is. It only has conidiophores and conidia. I examined five specimens under the microscope, and they all show the same features. I may have seen one empty ascus, but I’m not sure.

Growing on: Very wet, decorticated hardwood
Microscopy:
-No ascospores observed; only conidia and conidiophores of various sizes present
-No asci found
-Conidia measuring 6.88–10.05 × 2.81–3.67 µm

                Re : Unidentified species
I see an ascus on the first photo, but in bad shape (not mature). The ascospores seem abundant and germinate, maybe you took them for conidia?

                Re : Unidentified species
Now that you mention it, it seems obvious; I mistakenly thought the germinating ascospores were conidiophores with conidia! Thank you, Zotto. Now I just need to find a specimen in good shape.
