Pdf of Cryptosporella article and seeking additional species of Ophiognomonia
Amy Rossman, 21-03-2011 21:26
Dear All,

Thank you so much for responding about fresh specimens of Ophiognomonia melanostyla. In that same regard, our student Don Walker would like another species, Ophiognomonia trientensis on Alnus viridis, if you happen to see it.

Attached is a pdf of Luis Mejia's recent article on Cryptosporella published in Mycologia. You may remember Luis from the workshop some years ago.

Interesting paper. Thank you very much.
However, as far as I understood correctly, the type species of C. rabenhorstii has no fused perithecial necks, while in the key this species is mentioned with fused necks.

Regards,
Bernard

Amy, could you ask to Luis to look at his "Fiche" in this data base. Macroscopically, it seems to be multicontinentalis, isn't it ? In 2008, all the recolt on Alnus glutinosa with such ascospores were still called C. suffusa. But now, in 2011 ?
Perhaps, I'm wrong, so I would like to have his opinion.

Thank you Amy for making this outstanding paper available to Ascofrance addicts.
Of course, we all remember Luis, and we are looking forward to meeting both of you in Melle!

Unfortunately, I will not be there but hopefully Cesar Herrara, a graduate student working on Cosmospora, will be coming. And, Luis is working on obtaining funds to come.

You are an amazing (and fun-loving) group!
