Apiospored pyrenomycete
Björn Wergen, 19-06-2013 21:14
Björn WergenHi there,

during my vacation in Austria I have found a very small, immersed pyrenomycete on old Typha stems. It has just 0,1-0,3mm broad, black fruitbodies and apiospores, which have a paler and a darker brown cell, 13-15x4-6µm. There is no visible apical structure, IKI- and Congo -.

There is no stroma, perithecia are embedded singly.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance and regards

Re : Apiospored pyrenomycete
Hallo Björn
I wondered about Anthostomella, but I am not convinced - there does not seem to be a clypeus, and you would expect a reaction to IKI. Do you have Sheila Francis' book on Anthostomella? (Mycological Papers No.139)

best wishes
Chris

Re : Apiospored pyrenomycete
Hi Chris,

the collection is saved on my pc as "Anthostomella sp.", but just due to the lack of knowledge.

I do not have this paper.

björn

I have found Anisomyces nectrioides as a very similar fungus, but this one is only recorded from Brazil (on Paullinia spp.)...

Re : Apiospored pyrenomycete
I give myself the answer: Didymopleella cladii. It is recorded on Cladium, but anyway, Cladium and Typha are both Poales and everything fits very well.
