Hi again


These inmersed stromata were collected on november 2014 on indeterminate hardwood, maybe Quercus but not Alnus. The stromata are 3-7 mm broad and 2.5-3 mm high and the perithecia 0.5-1.2 mm in diameter. The brownish mature ascospores have a minute pore.


I feel this is Camarops microspora on an unusual sustrate. Could I right?

to me the stromata are more similar to the Camarops lutea complex than to C. microspora. This/these fungi occur on all sorts of substrates both hard- and softwoods. best wishes Thomas

The amount of yellow in the surrounding wood is in my experience extremely variable and I have some collections that I believe belong here completely without yellow. But there are also material (not from DK) where the yellow colour can be found in the stroma itself. There should be some minor differences in sporesize and shape between microspora and the lutea complex

It is very interesting because really there are not morfological differences with the stromata and ascospores of lutea.
