Black erumpent anamorph
Ethan Crenson, 25-11-2018 00:09
On a hardwood twig in the Bronx, NYC.  This black erumpent fruiting body looked as though it might be a multi-peritheciate pyrenomycete owing to what appeared to be perithecial mounds. When sectioned, there were not perithecia, but rather dense "packages" clustered together under the rather soft external layer.  They contain many brown, aseptate conidiospores that are more or less cylindrical with rounded ends. Apparently no asci present.  The conidia measure 17.5-20 x 7-8.5µm.  Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Re : Black erumpent anamorph
Hello Ethan, I think it's between Diplodia and Dothiorella, because of the size of the conidia I lean more for Dothiorella sp

Thanks Angel.  After I posted this I had begun to suspect Diplodia.  I will look into Dothiorella as well.  Is there any particular literature that you can recommend?
