Re : Arachnopeziza eriobasis?
I do not know this species personally but suspect that it is, it fits other collections in my folder. But I now looked in Kosonen et al. 2020 who treats two collections identified by Korf as A. eriobasis under Arachnoscypha aranea. I am now curious if your fungus and those in my folder are also A. aranea. In fact I had placed A. eriobasis in my Arachnoscypha folder.

Re : Arachnopeziza eriobasis?
Thank you for your opinion. I just read a paper: "Taxonomy and systematics of Hyaloscyphaceae and Arachnopezizaceae" (T. Kosonen, S. Huhtinen, K. Hansen). Interestingly, A. eriobasis does not seem to be a good species. However, if you or someone else would like to genetically sequence my collection - I will gladly send it. I am not 100% sure that the substrate is a herbaceous plant. Perhaps it is a non-woody young sprout of a willow?

Re : Arachnopeziza eriobasis?
Hello,

This is an interesting sample! It must be Arachnoscypha. But it might be something else than A. aranea.

I studied A. aranea and eriobasis collections by Korf and I had diffiulties observing any difference. The main difference appeared to be the ecology. HOwever, I have never studied any (fresh) material from Castanea, mainly from Acer (leafs). All Scandinavian material is conspecific and I came to the conclusion that it fits better to A. aranea.

-More than willing to study this material! :-)
