Oh, such setulae are totally unknown to me in bryicolous species or those oth non-scutuloid ascospores! Very interesting species which requires more data (IKI reaction, croziers, excipulum).

Bonjour Robin,
and Zotto

We found a quite similar collection (leg. M. Vega ) in the French Alps  last year with such ciliate spores .
Data will be provided when work on it will have improved

Amitiés Michel

Re : Bryoscyphus Spp
Thank you for reply, here is information.

Interesting you did found it on the alps, if it is the same :) looking forward to the data Michel.

Ascus tip does not give a blue or red reaction in lugols and koh/ lugols.

croziers +

Apothecia do not react in koh 10%.

Apothecia is turning orange when dry.

I will put it in herbarium UPS, Sweden under Bryoscyphus (around 50 apothecia)
Best Regards,

Robin

Re : Bryoscyphus Spp
Typical of Bryoscyphus would be the VBs in the paraphyses, but untypical are the yellow carotenoids. Did you study the apex of dead asci too? No photo in KOH+IKI? Is there an apical thickening or not?

Re : Bryoscyphus Spp
one could also test if the fresh apothecia react red with KOH. The discrepances to Luteodiscus are surely large, but a test is a test.

Robin already wrote that this is KOH-. He knows Luteodiscus :-)

Here is picture of koh+ lugols first 2.

The other 2 is in kongo-red.

I Did test apothecia with chlorine and it was negative.

Re : Bryoscyphus Spp
Dear Michel and Zotto,

Did you get any data of the collection form the alps Michel?

I was att the same place last year(2023) Sweden. Try to find and collect it to get a sequence of it. Unfortunately with no luck. I will try this year as well.
