Nectriopsis on Willkommlangea reticulata
Marja Pennanen,

Hello folks,
I found myxos, that seemed to be Willkomlangea reticulata last autumn, but a bit too late. They had been captured by some white spots causing fungus.
Their asci were about 55x3-4.
The spores are about 5-8x2-3 and seems to develop a septum.
I suppose this is a Nectriopsis species, but what?
I hope someone here can help me: Marja

Re : Nectriopsis on Willkommlangea reticulata
Hi Marja,
Very probably.
With such small ascospores 3 species are possible. You should give us more informations especially concerning ascomata and ascospores.
Are the latter smooth or spinulose ?
smooth with appendages = albicans
smooth without appendages = exigua
spinulose = oropensoides

Re : Nectriopsis on Willkommlangea reticulata
Thank you for your aswers!
I'll try to look, how the spores look and thanks to you Alain, I may be able to determine after that.
And sorry Lothar, but I have found Willkommlangea 3 times ealier, one specimen elsewhere was ok, but the others I found from the area, were I picked these also too late.. Maybe I'll go there next autum earlier. I'm interested also in myxos and I have planned to come to a meeting in Berctesgaden next spring.
Thankfully: Marja
