minute mould on grass remains
Lothar Krieglsteiner, 09-08-2020 07:55
Lothar Krieglsteiner... maybe Molinia, in an acid bog (near Narthecium ossifragum), in the Eifel.
First I thought I would collect a myxomycete (e.g. Comatricha), but the micrdoscope told something different.
Unfortunately, I forgot to measure the spores yesterday, and the material is very scanty. But I think they should be about 7 µm.
Who has a proposal?
Best, Lothar

Hallo Lothar,

das sollte eine Periconia sp. sein.

Hallo Thorben,
vielen Dank für die Gattung. Weißt Du zufällig einen Schlüssel, mit dem man eine Chance hat, zur Art zu kommen?
Viele Grüße vpn Lothar

Periconia igniaria? Or something very similar . . .

Hello Chris,
thank you very much for your proposal. With my not very professional try with Ellis & Ellis I was coming to P. atra. But your proposal surely is much more plausible. Unfortunately, in the moment I have no chance to follow this (I am giving seminars, and this is a whole day job ...), but I will do this in a few days.
Thanks again and best regards, Lothar

Re : minute mould on grass remains
Hello Chris,
now I found the time to look at the specimen again. I agree with you, P. igniaria fits better than P. atra. As I have no experience with this fungi, I considered the "branches in the head" (in Ellis & Ellis) as short, but surely they are (as you noted) comparably long. So thanks again for igniaria!
Best regards, Lothar
