daily Pyrenomycetes...Cryptodiaporthe?
Björn Wergen, 29-03-2011 15:18
Björn WergenHello again,

it seems as if there is an infinite number of Pyrenomycetes, every time I check out a finding with the microscope, it is something new. This time it's something strange on dead Salix twigs.

Fruitbody a single perithecia without a stroma, breaking the cortex, after cutting you can see some whole perithecia growing on the wood and not embedded into the cortex, black, 0,1-0,2 mm.
Spores 12-15x3-4,5µm, perfectly fusiform, mature spores mostly with a central septation, hyaline, with some minor guttules in each cell, smooth. Asci 90-110x9-11µm, with 8 spores in uniseriate arrangement, short stalked, unitunicate. Paraphyses not seen.

The spores seem to have a gel sheath, especially when they are immature (in the ascus), mature spores don't have something like this.

Perhaps someone can help me with this "mysterious" fungus.

regards and many thanks again,
Kazuya

:D I had also Hysterium pulicare, Leptosphaeria acuta and a second Leptosphaeria spec. on indet. Umbelliferae or something, I will try to find out the correct substrate during sommer ;)

oh I forgot Nectria magnusiana on dead Diatrypella favacea growing on Carpinus...

here is another photo of asci apical structure, perhaps it helps with determination ;)

no idea what this can be? :( I checked all my literature but I didn't find any species with this fusiform spores...

Cryptodiaporthe salicella (Fr.) Petrak ?

A+

Perhaps you can try another observation Kazama. My opinion was that you have perhaps ean immature C. salicina.
Mysterious it is, for the moment.

A suivre ...

Re:daily Pyrenomycetes...Cryptodiaporthe?
hi,

I had checked the species again, but there were no changes, the spores were the same size and mostly fusiform as shown on the photos.
