Taeniolella?
Björn Wergen, 27-12-2014 14:56
Björn WergenDear friends,

I have collected a hyphomycete on dead attached Carpinus twigs of which I am unable to identify. Perhaps you have an idea what this is. I have compared it with species of Taeniolella, Capnosporium and some others, but I did not find any matching species...

regards,
björn

Re : Taeniolella?
Dear Björn,

why not T. breviuscula? You surely have Ellis&Ellis (land plants) at hand. 2-3 and up to 5-septate conidia would fit. Don't know a "modern" key to this genus.

Martin

Thanks Martin, I think this is a possible solution for this fungus :)

Re : Taeniolella?
Hi Björn
do you have Ellis's More Dematiaceous Hyphomycetes? Useful key on page 55 . . .

Re : Taeniolella?
Well yes, Chris

I did not have this work on my screen! I am looking forward to Björn's results consulting this.

Re : Taeniolella?
Hi there,

thanks for help, Chris. In this case, Taeniolella alta would fit very well, because I did not observe any longitudinal septa.

björn

Re : Taeniolella?

Hi Björn,

Just a question : it's occuring on bark, not on a lichen thallus ?

Nice photos,

Alain

PS : T. alta fits well indeed.

Re : Taeniolella?
Hi Alain,

the Taeniolella grows on bark and on wood through cracks. There was no lichen thallus.

björn
